Motul India launches IPONE

The Motul India launched IPONE lineup is divided into four performance-focused categories — Black Belt Racing, Blue Belt Sport, Green Belt Advanced, and Yellow Belt Standard — catering to every type of motorcycle rider.

Motul India has officially introduced the French premium motorcycle lubricant brand IPONE in the Indian market, marking a major expansion in the country’s fast-growing premium two-wheeler segment. The launch is aimed at young and performance-oriented riders who are increasingly looking beyond basic engine oils and towards products that combine performance, identity, and riding culture.

Originally founded in France in 1985, IPONE has built its reputation as a motorcycle-focused lubricant brand with strong inspiration from Japanese motorcycling culture and motorsport heritage. Through this India launch, Motul is positioning IPONE not just as another lubricant option, but as a lifestyle-driven premium brand designed for enthusiasts involved in adventure riding, touring, off-roading, and track riding.

One of the standout elements of the IPONE lineup is its unique “belt-based” product classification system inspired by the belt progression used in judo. Instead of conventional naming structures, the oils are divided into four categories based on riding intensity and performance requirements. The Black Belt “Racing” range sits at the top of the hierarchy and includes the flagship Shogun engine oil, which is associated with the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. Below that, the Blue Belt “Sport” range focuses on fully synthetic oils for aggressive road and off-road use, while the Green Belt “Advanced” and Yellow Belt “Standard” ranges cater to everyday riders and commuters.

Motul India has also highlighted the technological side of the new range, stating that IPONE lubricants use advanced PAO (Polyalphaolefin) and Ester-based formulations developed specifically for motorcycles. According to the company, these formulations are designed to improve engine protection, thermal stability, and overall riding performance, especially under demanding riding conditions.

Motul India and South Asia CEO Nagendra Pai

Speaking about the launch, Motul India and South Asia CEO Nagendra Pai said the company sees a strong shift in India toward premiumization among younger riders who are passionate about adventure riding and performance-focused experiences. Motul believes IPONE perfectly fits this evolving market, where riders are increasingly choosing products that reflect both functionality and personality.

The company plans to initially roll out IPONE across six major core markets and fourteen key markets in India. Availability will be supported through Motul India’s existing offline dealer network as well as online sales channels, helping the brand quickly establish a nationwide presence. Digital-first campaigns and community engagement activities are also expected to play a major role in introducing the brand to India’s growing enthusiast rider base.

With India witnessing rapid growth in the premium motorcycle segment — especially among owners of adventure bikes, sport motorcycles, and touring machines — the arrival of IPONE gives enthusiasts another specialized lubricant brand option alongside established premium players already operating in the market.
