Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation launches Abhay Yojana offering 90% penalty waiver on property tax dues, valid till March 31, 2026. Pimpri-Chinchwad: In a major relief for property owners, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has rolled out a special amnesty scheme — ‘Abhay Yojana’ — offering a 90% concession on penalty charges for pending property tax dues. The scheme will remain in force from March 1 to March 31, 2026. Under the initiative, property holders with outstanding dues can avail the rebate on accumulated penalties by paying their entire pending principal amount in a single payment within the stipulated period. The concession applies only to late payment penalties; the original tax amount must be cleared in full. Big Push for Revenue Recovery Property tax remains one of PCMC’s primary sources of revenue, funding civic services such as roads, water supply, sanitation and public health infrastructure across Pimpri-Chinchwad. With a significant number of properties still in arrears, the civic administration is aiming to accelerate collections before the financial year ends. Civic officials indicated that thousands of defaulters stand to benefit from the scheme, while the move is also expected to strengthen the corporation’s financial position. Appeal to Citizens PCMC Mayor Ravi Landge urged citizens to take advantage of the limited-time opportunity. He said the scheme is designed to reduce the financial burden caused by mounting penalties and encourage voluntary compliance. Municipal Commissioner Shravankumar Hardikar stated that the benefit applies to residential, commercial and industrial property owners alike. He clarified that once the deadline passes, the corporation will resume regular recovery proceedings, including full penalty enforcement against defaulters. Deadline Is Key The civic body has made it clear that March 31, 2026, will be the final date to avail the 90% penalty waiver. After that, no concessions will be extended. With the clock ticking, PCMC has appealed to all pending taxpayers to clear their dues and avoid stricter recovery action in the coming financial year.
