The Ford GT Mk IV lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife—one of the most renowned circuits in racing history, commonly known as the ‘Green Hell’—to become the fastest American car and the third-fastest overall. Behind the wheel was two-time 24h Nürburgring winner and Ford Racing factory driver Frédéric Vervisch, who set a record-breaking lap time of 6:15.977. With this lap time, the Ford GT Mk IV also holds the title of being the fastest pure-petrol car to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Overall, the top spot is held by the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo with a lap time of 5:19.546, followed by the Volkswagen ID.R in second place with a time of 6:05.336. The Ford GT Mk IV is based on a carbon-fibre chassis and features a longer wheelbase with a long-tail body for enhanced aerodynamics, along with an Adaptive Spool Valve (ASV) suspension setup for track use. It generates over 1,088kg of downforce at 241km/h. Power comes from a tuned EcoBoost V6 engine producing over 800bhp. The Ford GT Mk IV is the final version of the third-generation Ford GT. Hand-built to only 67 units, the track car is priced at over $1.7 million.
