Lexus ES 500e Launched as Brand’s First BEV in India

Lexus has launched the eighth-generation ES in an all-electric avatar in India. The all-new ES 500e is the brand’s first battery electric vehicle (BEV) for the Indian market. It is priced at Rs 89.99 lakh ex-showroom.

The all-new Lexus ES 500e comes with a 74.68kWh lithium-ion battery that powers two electric-motors mounted on each axle making it an all-wheel drive vehicle. The front electric motor produces up to 224hp and 267Nm while the rear electric motor produces up to 119hp and 170Nm. Total system output is up to 340hp and 439Nm. Lexus claims the ES 500e can do 0-100kmph in 5.5s.

Built on the TNGA-K platform and inspired by the Lexus LF-ZC philosophy of Clean Tech x Elegance, the Lexus ES 500e features a modern, appealing design that is both understated and stylish. Up front, the ES 500e features twin L-signature daytime running lights, while the rear gets a wraparound taillamp connected by an LED light bar with Lexus lettering at the centre.

Inside the cabin, the all-new Lexus ES 500e delivers an elegant ambience, complemented by a clean and refined design. Traditional physical controls have been eliminated to enhance spatial openness, replaced by advanced proximity-sensing interfaces positioned below the infotainment display and on the steering wheel. These intuitive controls illuminate as the driver’s or passenger’s hand approaches, creating a seamless and futuristic interaction experience. The ES 500e features a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen alongside a 12.3-inch instrument cluster. A Mark Levinson surround sound system further elevates the in-cabin experience. Up front, the centre console integrates driving controls and cupholders, while rear passengers get a centre armrest with a storage compartment and cupholders.

As part of the safety, the all-new Lexus ES 500e is equipped with 10 SRS airbags, pre-collision system, driver monitor and surround-view cameras. The ES 500e also features an electronic parking brake, hill-hold assist, electronic stability control, and a digital rearview mirror that enhances visibility while maintaining rear-seat privacy.

The Lexus ES 500e is available in five colour options – Sou, White Nova, Sonic Titanium, Sonic Copper, and Graphite Black – and can be paired with two interior colour schemes: White and Hazel.
