Tesla Model Y L Launched at Rs 61.99 Lakh

Tesla launched the longer wheelbase version of its Model Y in India identified as Tesla Model Y L. Tesla introduced the smaller wheelbase version of the Model Y last year in India. The Tesla Model Y L costs Rs 61.99 lakh, ex-showroom, priced between the standard range and long range of the small wheelbase.

The all-new Tesla Model Y L justifies the “L” designation with its extended dimensions. The overall length stands at 4,976 mm, 179 mm longer than the standard version translating to improved legroom inside. The wheelbase is 150 mm longer, further enhancing cabin space, while the height increases to 1,668 mm, up by 44 mm, resulting in noticeably better headroom. The ground clearance now is 169 mm, 2 mm higher and the Tesla Model Y L weighs 2,088 kg, 96 kg more than the standard version. However, the added weight is unlikely to be a concern, as the Model Y L is powered by a dual-electric-motor setup producing 514 hp and 590 Nm of torque. This makes the Tesla Model Y L –

• The first Model Y variant in India to get a dual-motor setup with all-wheel drive configuration.

• Makes the EV go from dead stop to 100 kmph in 5.0 seconds.

• This electric vehicle is powered by an 88.2 kWh NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) battery pack, which helps deliver a WLTP-claimed range of 681 km.

• Using its Supercharger network, Tesla claims the Tesla Model Y L can add up to 288 km of range in just 15 minutes of fast charging.

The Tesla Model Y L sounds strong from a technical standpoint, but on the inside, it’s nothing short of a luxury statement. It features a three-row, six-seat layout, with

• The front seats for the driver and passenger are both heated and ventilated. These seats also get thigh extension.

• Middle row features two captain seats that too are heated and ventilated and has electronically operated armrests.

• The third row comes with powered reclining seats and its own AC vents.

Even with the third row in use, the Tesla Model Y L offers a generous 420 litres of boot space. Fold the third-row seats at the push of a button, and the capacity expands to 1,000 litres, enough to accommodate almost anything.

16-inch screen, 50 W wireless charger, heated steering wheel, 8-inch second-row touchscreen, 19-speaker sound system, air purifier, ambient lightning, powered tailgate, eight exterior cameras, panoramic glass roof and a dashcam are among the many features the Tesla Model Y L has to offer.  

The Tesla Model Y L is only available in Stealth Grey Shade as standard. Customer can opt for five more colours — Pearl White, Diamond Black, Glacier Blue, Ultra Red and Cosmic Silver at an extra cost. The interior is available in all-black theme as standard. Buyers can choose a dual-tone black and grey colour scheme at an additional cost of Rs 95,000.

The Tesla Model Y L comes with a four-year or 80,000 km warranty for the entire vehicle, whichever comes first. The battery and drive unit, meanwhile, are covered by an eight-year or 1,92,000 km warranty, whichever comes first. Bookings for the Model Y L have already commenced, with the first units expected to arrive in showrooms in June.
