Rookie star Kimi Antonelli continued his dream start to the season by winning the Japanese Grand Prix 2026 at the legendary Suzuka Circuit. With this victory, the 19-year-old became the youngest Formula 1 driver ever to lead the World Championship. Starting from pole in the Japanese Grand Prix 2026, Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli had a poor start and lost positions on the opening lap. However, the race turned in his favour after a Safety Car was brought out following an incident involving Oliver Bearman. Kimi Antonelli becomes the first Italian driver since Alberto Ascari in 1953 to win back-to-back Formula 1 races. McLaren driver Oscar Piastri and Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc shared the podium with Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli by securing second and third position respectively. The Japanese Grand Prix 2026 proved disappointing for Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll, who retired due to a water pressure issue in his car, and Haas F1 Team driver Oliver Bearman, who crashed out on Lap 21. Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team is currently leading the Constructors’ Championship, 45 points ahead of Scuderia Ferrari and 89 points ahead of McLaren. Excitement builds as 19 races remain in the season. The next round will take place at the Miami Grand Prix from May 1 to May 3. Stay tuned for more updates.
